Bask
[For cold-blooded animals]: To lay out in the sun or other warm area to increase body temperature. Basking allows reptiles and amphibians to warm their bodies. This is important for bodily functions, such as digesting food.
After feeding on algae in the cold waters around the Galapagos Islands, marine iguanas bask on the beach in huge groups. Their dark scales absorb sunlight quickly.
